Dog Collectibles - Identification | Valuation
Dog Collectibles are a huge business on Ebay. Lots of people like dogs, so there are lots of dog related items to collect.
My interest started with Trixie, a female Rat Terrier rescued from life in the barn when I was a child. She was about a year old when we got her and had just been through a Minnesota winter in the barn. Given her size and short fur, the only thing that kept her alive was she learned to sleep in the hollow of the Holstein milk cows belly (For those of you who aren't familiar with milk cows, they are very skinny and when they lie down there is a hollow right beside their hip bones.). That experience was probably why she liked to lay directly in front of the forced air furnace ducts in later years. She had a favorite spot under the buffet where her whole body was in the hot air and just her head was outside of it. She would lie there until she was panting and her skin was all red, but still wouldn't move.
Currently we have Spike, another Rat Terrier, rescued by my son. He has much the same Terrier personality but was not so traumatized before we got him. It's pretty funny to have a 14 pound dog named Spike.
